Question 1: What's the difference between export and backup?
Answer: In DVR technology, export means to extract a small size recording clip (usually less then few minutes duration) to an external device or disk. Where as backup means to extract large size file from the internal disk. This usually means days of video data.
Question 2: Why is the video choppy when viewing remotely?
Answer: Remote viewing requires high data processing and transfer through the network. Hence low bandwidth connection, busy network or slow processing computer (for PC based DVR) can cause video choppiness.
Question 3: Remote viewing does not work.
Answer: If remote viewing is working within the local network (LAN), but does not work while accessing from outside the network, there are 3 possible causes:
1. Windows (PC based DVR) default firewall or any antivirus programs.
2. ISP provider blocked the ports.
3. Router does not allow such function (i.e. managing the ports¡Ketc).
Question 4: Does my Windows based DVR need regular maintenance?
Answer: Windows based DVR is still a windows machine (PC). Hence it is recommended to have regular maintenance done as regular PC, especially HDD Maintaince is important.
Question 5: PC based system is unstable when recording to external HD?
Answer: Normally it is not recommended to use external HD for daily recording duties. Because it can overload the system thus causing instability. External HDD is godd for Auto or Manual Daily Backup.
Question 6: Power LED on the DVR4000 series (PC based) is flashing.
Answer: This indicates the memory modules were not properly detected by the mainboard, shut off the system, firmly press down the Memory into the Slot for recatch.
